International Project Office for CORDEX (IPOC)

The international Project Office for CORDEX (IPOC) has been hosted by the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) in Norrköping, Sweden from 2015 until 2025.

A new Project Office will soon be established and during the transition period until the new IPO is established the WCRP Secretariat together with the IPO for Regional Information for Society (RIfS) will handle the administration and coordination of CORDEX activities.

The role of the IPOC is to:

1. Support the CORDEX Science Advisory Team (CORDEX-SAT) in the planning and implementation of CORDEX priorities;
2. Ensure appropriate international coordination between the CORDEX regions, institutes and individuals;
3. Build relationships with the impacts and adaptation, and end user communities to ensure their needs are addressed by CORDEX activities;
4. Collaborate with relevant WCRP and other international programmes;
5. To promote capacity development particularly in developing regions and among young scientists;
6. Actively disseminate and communicate the work of CORDEX.
