Attendees are from Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya and Burundi, including students and lecturers from Universidade Eduardo Mondlane.

The workshop facilitates hands-on work to develop empirical-statistical downscaling for southeast Africa and training in R/R-studio and includes:

• Lectures on downscaling techniques;

• Data processing (ERA5 reanalysis and CMIP6 simulations);

• Training in empirical-statistical downscaling (ESD) skills and learning how to utilize them to downscale future climate projections for their respective countries;

• Opportunities to sharpen skills in R and EDS techniques;

• Writing process that contributes to a scientific paper on downscaling and future regional climate projections.
